Delicious Pan Seared Fish

If you enjoy the exotic taste of fish dishes, then try this delicious, perfectly pan Seared fish. It's a great option served with yellow rice or salad for dinner or lunch.

For this Recipe, we used King Fish as the Fish of choice but feel free to use your preferred choice. For perfectly seared Fish, the key is to sear on high heat for that crispy outer crust and that barely done texture on the inside.

RECIPE

Ingredients

  • 1 lb King Fish
  • 1 tsp City Eats Fish Seasoning
  • 1 tsp City Eats All Purpose Seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp salt (optional)
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 3 Sprigs Thyme
  • 1/4 cup Vegetable oil
  • tbsp Butter (optional)

Step 1

Set a cast iron or steel pan (don’t use non-stick, because you can’t cook with these pans over high heat) over high heat until it is roaring hot. Add Oil once hot, followed by Garlic and Thyme.

Step 2

While your pan is heating thoroughly clean scales from fish and rinse with Vinegar or Lemon to clean, pat dry with paper towel to remove excess water.

Step 3

Season Fish with City Eats Seasonings and salt.

Step 4

Place Fish in hot pan and let it cook undisturbed for at least a minute, possibly as many as 7 to 10 minutes. Cook through without turning by spooning the hot oil over the Fish until it turns opaque. To test if its ready, use a Spatula to attempt to turn it; if it sticks, it's not ready so allow it to cook more. Cook the next side for 3-5 minutes. Once golden and ready, remove from Pan.

Step 5

In a small saucepan, sauté Onions and chopped Garlic in 2 tbsp of oil that was used to sear the Fish for 2-3 minutes on medium heat.

Step 6

Add Ketchup, Water, soy sauce  and salt to taste your favourite Tomato sauce using Ketchup, Water, remaining half of City Eats seasoning, soy sauce (optional) and bring to a simmer.

Step 7

Serve Fish over Rice or with your favourite Veggies. Spoon sauce over Fish & enjoy!
