Hot Honey Fried Chicken

Brunch at home just has just been elevated! Try this Recipe and you may just stop going to your fave Brunch spot on Sundays. This Hot Honey Fried Chicken served over some Waffles is perfect for that in home Brunch date with your girls, your partner or just you!

RECIPE

Ingredients

  • 6 pcs whole Chicken Breasts
  • 2 tbsp City Eats Chicken seasoning 
  • 2 tbsp All Purpose Seasoning
  • 2 tbspn green seasoning blend
  • 1 tbspn smoked Paprika (Optional)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup Honey
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup Pepper sauce
  • Cornstarch

    Step 1

    Thoroughly clean chicken with water, vinegar & lime and drain & pat dry with paper towel to to remove excess water.

    Step 2

    Season chicken with green seasoning blend, 1 tbsp City Eats All Purpose & 1 tbsp City Eats Chicken seasoning, and rub together to combine. Marinate for at least 6 hours and up to 24 hours or overnight for best results.

    Step 3

    In a separate bowl, mix together 1 cup of all purpose flour, the remainder of Chicken & All Purpose seasonings, 1tbsp Cornstarch, 1/2 teaspoon salt & black pepper (optional) & mix to combine.

    Step 4

    Crack 2 eggs into the bowl with chicken & buttermilk and mix to combine. Put away in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to marinate.

    Step 5

    In a cast iron skillet, pour 1 1/2 cup oil and allow to heat to at least 300 deg F.

    Step 6

    Remove chicken from refrigerator and pour off egg batter from the chicken into a separate bowl. Dip chicken into egg batter, then into the flour, shaking off excess flour and again into the egg batter to coat, & into hot oil to fry in 2 batches until golden brown on each side, 8- 10 minutes. Shake off any excess oil and place on paper towels to drain. Repeat this process until all Chicken has been coated and fried.

    Step 7

    Make the hot honey sauce. Heat 1 tablespoon of the chicken frying oil in a small saucepan over medium. Cook garlic, stirring occasionally, until just beginning to brown, 4 to 5 minutes, mix in hot pepper sauce & Ketchup. Add honey, salt and bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes to allow flavors to come together. Remove from heat and keep warm until ready to serve. Spoon sauce over your Chicken to coat and add green Onions to garnish.
